2011 Search for the Next UP Manila Chancellor

Greetings!

I was appointed by President Alfredo Pascual to serve as the student representative in the Search Committee for the Next UP Manila Chancellor. As the only student member of the Search Committee, it is my duty and responsibility to genuinely represent the concerns/issues/demands/interests of the students in the Search Committee. In line with this, I would like to encourage the maximum participation of all the members of student councils, student organizations, other student formations and all UP Manila students by actively participating in the search process.

First, I will be given the chance to interview and cross-examine all the nominees for Chancellorship regarding their mission/vision, plans, credentials, stand on student issues, etc. This will give us a guarantee that a pro-student Chancellor will be appointed. Because of this, I would like to solicit student concerns/issues/demands that you would like me to raise in my interview with the nominees. Second, the Search Committee will also be holding a Multi-Sectoral Forum with the Nominees. This will be held at the College of Nursing Auditorium, August 24, Wednesday, 9am-12nn. Attendees will be given the chance to ask questions and get to know the plans of the nominees for the UPM community. You are highly encouraged to attend as this will be the only venue to personally get information/answers from the nominees. Also, President Pascual will be attending the forum.

Lastly, I encourage everyone to actively participate in the search process. Let's maximize venues for student participation and representation. Let the nominees hear the voice of the students. Let us all ensure that the plans of the next Chancellor for the next three years will truly benefit the UPM community.
