Iskolar ng Bayan,
Good day to the students of the National University, the University of the Philippines. You are one of the selected few that have been qualified to study in UP. May it be in Manila, Diliman, Los Banos, Davao, Sulu, Palawan, Cebu or Tagaytay, you are very fortunate that you are studying in UP. Right now, I know you’re thinking that there is something important that I will say. Well, I’ve just predicted the future, and you are here to read. But we’ll start from the basic.
Being a student in UP is not easy. The label accorded to you as you enter the great halls of UP is not just a label but a label with duties and responsibilities. Being an Iskolar ng Bayan means that you have what it takes to be a real scholar --- intelligent, hard-working & rich. And those traits must be use for the country because the country is providing your education. The skills and wisdom that you will acquire here in UP must be use for the well-being of the people of our country. I challenge all of you as a freshman to live by the label attributed to you. Be a real Iskolar ng Bayan!

Heavenly Animals: The Truth Behind Animal Extinction
FILM SUMMARY
Room 201, the waiting room or the purgatory for animals, has been the place of conversation for a group of endangered animals awaiting the judgment of Big Boss if they will be accepted to ascend in heaven. The group of animals is composed of two tamaraws, one pawikan, one tarsier, one eagle and a lynx. Acting as a secretary in the waiting room was a mermaid. The animals talked about how they had been killed in the past. And supposedly, their experiences will be taken as the experiences of the whole species as the cause of their extinction. The tamaraws had been killed and hunted for eventual exploitation in the laboratory. The pawikan was a victim of water pollution. The tarsier was also hunted for experimental purposes. The eagle was a victim of hunters and was killed by a gunshot. The lynx, very different from the group because of its country of origin, has also been killed in the laboratory after being de-skinned.
The film also includes presentation of gathered facts regarding the different endangered animal species, interviews from student leaders about their opinion on how to protect these endangered animal species and a concluding presentation regarding what can a student do to advocate the protection of animal species.
FACTS
TAMARAW (Bubalus Mindorensis)
Tamaraw is the only native bovid to the Philippines, and is the country’s native land largest animal. The tamaraw is an endemic land mammal found only on the island of Mindoro. Its current population is estimated around 30 to 200 living individuals.
Why is it endangered?

Collecting Prospectus.
Dictionary. com defines collection as a group of objects or an amount of material accumulated in one location, especially for some purpose or as a result of some same process.
A collection ofently defines a person, you get a quick glance of who and what the person is, you get a history and a page of future about the person. A collection of toys will mean many things, it can be his love of his childhood, to feel young or one may say that it serves as a distraction to reality. A collection of luxury cars can show how rich or how luxurious one is. A collection of books may define one's intelligence though reading is not really all it is.
What do you think of collecting prospectus from different universities? What is my future and history? What type of personality do I have?
Here it is.
Local. Very local. :) Can you identify the schools?
Easy much huh? Let me try your identifying powers again.

US and UK-based universities.
Can't see them clearly? I'll show them to you one-by-one.

Not Me.
Do I think the world should change? No. Why? Because we should bear in mind that there is nothing more difficult to do, more doubtful of victory, and more dangerous to proceed than to initiate change. The one who proposes the change makes a lot of enemies of all those who are comfortable and perfectly living under the present world and only a few from those who are uncomfortable will support. Only few will support because human beings are generally incredulous, never really trusting change unless they have tested them by their own experience.
I am already satisfied by the way the world moves around. My father is doing well in his work and he receives a good sum of money to be able to give our needs. We (siblings) are all studying and receiving a good education and enjoying small luxuries of life. My family is living in a fine home and we enjoy every minute of it. And I am afraid that I will lose these amenities of the present world if I ever initiate a change. This maybe selfishness and unwillingness to sacrifice one’s self but I am just being honest. No one is really happy to lose all the things that he/she have. But what about the others? Others that don’t study in school? Others that don’t eat everyday? Those people who doesn’t have homes? Let me tell this to you straight---let them initiate the change.
I know that change is inevitable ... except, perhaps, from a vending machine. But I would not waste my effort in changing a world that I enjoy. I think I’m getting out of the topic. Do I think the world should change? Of course yes. Why not? I do think the world should change. But I’m not going to do it.
