Project 365: A Year in A Life
525, 600 minutes,
525, 000 moments so dear.
525, 600 minutes, how do you measure - measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee.
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In number- how do you measure a year in the life?
-Seasons of Love, from Rent
I have a serious Rent hangover since the day I've seen it. I love the song Seasons of Love because of its lyrics. It's dramatic but at the same time rejoicing. Right? I'm mentioning the song because of Project 365. Yes, I'm on Project 365. I've figured that this is a good way to measure a year in the life. Corny? I actually got the idea from Bryan ( Kuya Bryan, LOL ). But I know that Project 365 was not his idea, i think the project has been going around for already six or seven years.
It actually made me excited because I will be doing a dare-yourself-for-the-whole-year thing. It is a test of commitment and constancy. Sort of. I initially thought that it will be about taking pictures of yourself everyday for a year. But it was kinda off because, i think, no one is that interested and that weird to actually like to see your face for everyday for a year. Right? So instead of that, I will be taking one picture a day of things (can be people) that made my day interesting or memorable for a year. Sounds cool, right? I will post it here in my blog ( weekly or daily or randomly) and will try to put some meaningful captions to make it more interesting.
This will be fun. I'd love to see the pictures after a year. It's like an album of what happened the whole year. It's a scrapbook. A journal. A diary. I hope it will really be able to measure my year. I'd love to see how my look changes and how things/people around me changes too. Cool, right?
I will be providing links of some of the helpful tips I've found on the internet on how to this project. Here they are:
> Project 365: How to Take a Photo a Day and See Your Life in a Whole New Way
> Tips for Shooting One Photo a Day for 365 Days
> Project 365: Take a photo a day for a year
I'm not a photographer or anything that has something to do with pictures. I don't have an awesome slash expensive digital camera. I just want to try this because I want to see how things change. I really think that this will be fun.I now have four pictures in my camera. I will post it soon. You can try it too next year! 2010 is the year of my P-365!

Becoming A Student of Politics (SS 09-10)
I feel like I'm becoming a PolSci major already. I mean, my courses this second semester are mostly major subjects or if not, social science subjects. It made me feel that I'm finally approaching a new phase of my academic life. My second semester started very well, from enrollment up to the first day of classes. I feel that there is a very thoughtful but unknown power giving me these things. The force be with you too!
SS09-10 Courses
Communications III
Professor Anna Aclan
This course is all about speech communication. I'm afraid of this course since a powerful Being deprived me of oral skills. I'm not good in delivering speeches and such because I'm not a fluent English speaker. I also have a p and f speech defect. But I do want to take up this course since it can help me. I also find this useful as a political science major and someone who is planning to take up Law. I do think that this course will be able to help me improve my speech communication skills. It is also a practical course since lectures given by the professor will always be tested since students are required to deliver different kind of speeches. I think this will be fun!
Philosophy 11
Professor Paula Sioco
I don't think I will like this course. I like philosophy but not logic. Unfortunately for me, this course is all about logic. It requires, well, logic, which I think something that I don't have. This is the reason why I hate Mathematics. But I really have to take up this course since this will prepare for the Law Aptitude Exam of UP College of Law and for any law school for that matter. I will have to do my best since logic is not that friendly to me.
History II
Professor Sharon Caringal
I'm a history fan but not a history buff. I plan to take up something related to history in the future, maybe another bachelor's. Well, BA History is one of my choices when I was still in high school. The course is about Asian history and how it affects the world. It gives us a unique focus. We are all accustomed to seeing history in the view of the Westerners since they believe that their culture is more civilized and superior than that of the Asian. This time, history will be analyzed in the viewpoint of an Asian. I do think that this will be a very interesting analysis. This course excites me because we really have to do some readings. I love readings!
Political Science 100
Professor Jalton Taguibao
This is actually my third major Political Science course. But this is my first major that is numbered in three digits. That alone excites me. Hopefully, this course will enable me to think like a Political Scientist. The course is about political theories, tools and analysis. Judging from the course outline, I think that it is a very technical course. But I like anything that is Political Science. I will surely enjoy this course.
Political Science 150
Professor Josefina Tayag, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
In all the domains of Political Science, i admit that Public Administration is the least that i like. PS 150 is an introductory course in Public Administration. But this is also the field that I'm least knowledgeable. I find the course interesting because I learn so much from the readings and from the professor. I also find this course very practical. There are lot of things to learn from PublicAd, plus i really love to read new things.
Economics 101
Professor Chester Arcilla
We all know how much I love Economics, at least most of my friends knows it. And you also know now. This is my second economics course in the university and this course is all about Macroeconomics, one of the two bigger fields of economics. Economics for me minus the mathematics part is a very interesting and engaging subject. But we can't separate and isolate the quantifiable part of economics, so more or less, the course is interesting, engaging and challenging. At the end of the day, I know how much I enjoyed the lectures and I hope that this will be the basis for the grades! Haha.

UP won!
It was a fresh victory for UP Fighting Maroons Men's Basketball Team on their first game on the 71st season of UAAP. UP was expected to win since NU Bulldogs were a no-match to hungry players of UP Fighting Maroons. Most members of the UAAP commitee agreed on that thing as they were interviewed after the game. "Ang UP Centennial nila, naghanda yan, hindi basta basta magpapabaya." Taken from an interview with one of the commitees.
People haven’t forgotten their winless performance last year, and have used this to dismiss this squad as this generation’s version of last generation’s NU. However, the UAAP has a way of turning the tables on unsuspecting individuals.
A simple win is good, a couple of wins is momentous, but getting into the Final Four is nothing but a miracle for the men's basketball team of UP Fighting Maroons. he ya! Mananalo kami! ASA. =)
Too bad ADMU won. T_T Animo LA SALLE!
UP FIGHT!

Innocent ’til Proven Guilty
This day, Every Campus Nation Ministries (ENCM) sponsored a mini-pirated version of the 1 vs. 100. It was held in UP Manila, College of Arts and Sciences, Rizal Hall, Little Theater at around 4:30 pm. It has to be exact, I want to be like Tycho Brahe .. accurate and precise. =)
It was entitled as 1 vs. 50. Dien and me was chosen to represent the-ever-popular-and-famous block 4 of political science. Remember the P-O-Llll-S-C-I-Blk4 cheer? I really had fun hearing those. At first, I thought the game show questions would be relevant to the sponsor (ENCM), and it would be something like Who did the posting of Ten Commandments? I just thought it would be like that. Obviously, I was wrong. It would be something different and something comical to others.
The mob against the 1 was composed of different freshmen from different courses, the mob was actually 52 when it started. I was very nervous that time. I don't want to disappoint my block mates. I told Dien that we really have to reach the second question before getting eliminated. She agreed then laughed. "Nakakahiya kapag una palang tapos na tayo," she told me. I agreed.
The brave "one" who dare to test his wits against 52 is a professor in UP Manila, also a graduate of Biochemistry in University of the Philippines. He looks like Yao Ming wearing glasses with thick lens. One of the mobs told me that he was a summa cum laude. WTF.
The first question was too easy, no one got eliminated as expected. The next set of questions got tricky and there was this one question that made the 52 mobs into 36. What is Dora the Explorer's nationality? Dien and I argued and agreed that Dora is a Spanish. "Ang itim kaya nya, she can be a mexican, and mexicans do speak spanish," a mob from the back told her co-mob. Dora is so pretentious. LOLS. And as i expected, Dora's nationality is Spanish. Thanks for my sister who insists on watching this gimikera. =)
Dien and I made it to the top 17. We won over the one. He didnt know whether Kitchie Nadal is from UP, DLSU or Ateneo. She was from LaSalle. And Dien and I answered it right. We got a 176 peso prize each. We reached the 3000 pesos money tree. I really had fun with this event specially with Dora the Explorer's nationality confusion. Remember, it is the Iskolar ng Bayan's weakness, Dora the Explorer.
When I got home, it's already 730 pm. My mom got mad at me since my dismissal is only 4pm. We argued. I silently argued with her. And she commented something that piss me off. She told me that I was just malling or nag gagala. I was so tired by that time that I got angry. She reprimanded me and took my allowaces, she told me that I have to bring lunch instead of money.
Moms do consider some laws but not the law of "Innocence Until Proven Guilty."
--------------
I am excited to the coming orientation of UP Manila Debate Circle. It's the wilingness that I have. It will be on June 30 and July 4. I don't have any plans of joining PoLiS. It's too boring for me. I hope I will be able to join the Debate Circle and the Indayog Dance Varsity.
