I Challenge Atenistas and La Sallistas

Tony Meloto, Gawad Kalinga president, in a lecture/speech/seminar with the Association of Parents and Counselors of the University of the Philippines Manila provides insights in the growing issues/controversies of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines final game between the DLSU Green Archers and the ADMU Blue Eagles.

In his speech, he discusses his programs for Gawad Kalinga, a non-governmental organization established to promote housing to the poor's and homeless. Building villages, GK proved to be successful as it promotes partnership to big corporations, politicians and religious and civic groups.

He inserted a short opinion of him regarding the P20, 000 ticket sold but originally bought as P325. This, according to him is stupidity and an act of displaying elitism as he quoted an article from the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

What is best about his speech is this:

"I challenge Ateneo and La Salle, paramihan ng matatayong bahay. Let them do something good for the nation. Instead of going to Araneta and fighting for something that is absurd, let them continue the fight with a noble cause. Siugurado ako, mapupuno ang Pilipinas ng berde at asul na village. I can visualize thousands of La Salle Green Archers Villages and thousands from the Ateneo Blue Eagles alike."

"I challenge Ateneo and La Salle to build a home for UP students, the UP students to be teachers without wages, and other universities to contribute to the betterment of our country."

On UAAP 2008 Cheerdance Competition

Let me congratulate the wonderful members of the UP Pep Squad, the coaches, its supporters and everyone who believes that the UP Pep Squad is indeed superior in the recent cheering competition. Cheeeeers! Sugod! ( la sallistas, atenistas, and thomasians may refer to this cheer as Tugod! )

I will try to evaluate them, i'm no expert, just want to share my comments about their performances, in order according to their ranks in the 2008 UAAP Cheerdance Competition.

National University Pep Squad

( this is their second year sa competition diba? Good enough! I enjoyed their performance, just next time, NUians support your own, lalo na at may cheer audibility sa criteria! Love your own!)

De La Salle University Animo Squad

( the squad's performance was way way better than their last year's! Enough reason to congratulate them! cheers! For me, the futuristic effect/theme is not mabenta kasi the members of the squad is not that futuristic kung mag-act and another minus is the squad's energy, ang low eh! )

University of the East Pep Squad

( no comment. i'm a bit disturbed nung performance nila eh, kaya i was not able to see kung what ang performance, pero i just saw that many are falling, and many failed to execute their part in routines )

Adamson University Pep Squad

( cheers! I enjoyed Adamson's performance! Magaling! I thought they would be bagging a place in the top three! Pero, next time, follow rules, sa mataas nyong pyramid na nag wow ang everyone ang nag cause ng deductions sa inyo! You really have to exert efforts sa transitions nyo, yung iba hindi masaya! )

Ateneo De Manila University Blue Babble Battalion

( the props were awesome! The dances were good though the much needed gymnastics part is lacking on your part, lalo na ang criteria eh focusing on the gymnastics, keep on rocking blue eagles! )

Far Eastern University Cheering Squad

( the squad's performances were really blazing! They poses as a threat to UST and UP dahil maganda talaga ang performance nila! And another plus, in uniforms rin ang kanilang crowd! Haha! The costumes is another plus pa pala! Let's go Tamaraws! )

University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe

( judging from their past performances, this year's was not better though the dances are good and they still manipulates the floor, kita pa rin sa face nila na nag aantayan sila! Low energy rin, it could have been another bragging rights for them kung nakuha nila ang crown kung ginalingan nila! But still, the Go Uste cheer is so good! Narcosis! Cheeeeeeers, Go Uste! )

University of the Philippines Pep Squad

( galing, at the start of the music palang at routines, isang malaking hey champion kami! Grabe ang difficulty ng routines ah, at lahat ay nag perperform talaga! Everybody is doing gymnastics, walang selected few! Unique pa ang theme! After the rock song (2007), folk-dance (2005), ngayon ay Tribo naman! And that man in the last part, Oble, benta! morale booster talaga sya pati sa crowd! Sadly, hindi masyadong na execute ng iba dahil sa hirap ng routines! Unibersidad ng Pilipinas! U! Congrats! Love ittttt! Kinakilabutan parin ako pag napapanood ko ang UP Pep Squad! )

I'm with my bestfriend (go uste sya!) nung nanood ako! Lower box kame, thanks for the ticket dad! Nasa harap ko ay ang UP PRESIDENT na si EMERLINDA ROMAN, and on my side naman is ATE GLOW! Haha. Grabe ah, ganun pala manood ng live, labanan ng banners! Haha.

Nope. Di ako masama! Tignan nyo naman, most of the word wars are started by the thomasians talaga, walang ka banner banner ang UP noh!.

2008 University Rankings (10) in Greater Luzon

The rankings were based on five categories namely: Facility, Faculty, Board Exam Passing Rate, Students and Academic Curriculum.

Facility will be rated according to ones university's buildings, learning equipment, and international learning standards competitiveness. Faculty will be rated according to academic degree of members of the faculty and student-to-faculty ratio. Board Exam Passing Rate will be rated according to passing rates and school topnotchings. Students will be rated according to academic competency and diversity. Lastly, Academic Curriculum will be rated according to courses offered, subject offered, grading system, research programs and curriculum flexibility. Ten being the highest and zero being the lowest will be used to get one's competency in the said category.

Universities as defined by the three-man council is an institution offering tertiary level of education disregarding its title. e.g., mapua institute of technology will still be considered as one of the universities in greater luzon.

Where?

Everybody out there is ready to enter a new life in college, probably in UP, Ateneo, La Salle, UST, PLM or MAPUA. These are the schools na popular sa school namin. Every single student wants to be in UP except for Carlotta (sya lang alam kung may ayaw eh) na decided na to be in La Salle. Its her choice, only she can know what's best for her.

Most of us, enrolled na to specific universities, siguro yung others just waiting for the date of their enrolment but they are already decided on where they are going, UNLIKE me .. still, very undecided.

I passed every entrance exams that i took except for UPCAT. arg. I am very unfortunate. Very depressed that time but I recovered na. So, my options are to enrol in UP Los Banos, which is yung results ng reconsideration is still on process at ma-rerelease in may 16, enrol in UST in may 16, though bad in reputation sa school namin, i got in here dun sa course na gusto ko, so its very okay for me, or in PLM na very possible dahil no tuition and choice ng mom ko, but i don't want to be in PLM for certain secret reasons, pero there are chances pa rin. It can also be in La Salle pero low possibilities dahil my computed expenses exceeds dun sa savings namin for my studies, may kulang ng mga 5 percent or lesser than that, if ever, i got a scholarship here kahit 5 percent lang, i can be here, but it's too late kasi i heard may 16 ang classes dito.

UPLB is still UP. Even though, BA Comm. Arts ang course ko dito, UP pa rin. And at least i can be easily accepted in UP Diliman if ever na mag-tratransfer ako kahit na walang guarantee, at the least, i'm still in UP.

UST is just UST. Even though, I made it into my course, high stakes pa rin na mahirapan ako maghanap ng job after because UST is not that prioritized. Pero, I can still transfer in Diliman after a year though, i heard na ang mga profs ay sinasadyang hindi magbigay ng dos para hindi ka makalipat. !xx!

PLM. ahm. PLM. Its good here because mostly, mascians ang mga makakasama ko dito. Pero, i am very uncomfortable sa PLM, hindi ko alam kung bakit.

LA SALLE. Better ang employment rate ng LA SALLE compared to other universities according to a survey instituion run by Times Higher Education na naka based sa London. Kaya lang you have to pay for that employment, dahil sa taas ng tuition. Pero, come to think of it na kapag maganda ang job mo, you'll surely get your money back.

Hindi ako nag ACET.

COMMENCEMENT

Isang lalaki ang nakatayo sa kawalan. Madilim. At walang katapusan ang kadiliman. Pinagpatuloy niya na lamang ang paglalakad sa lagusang madilim. Napagod. Humiga. Hinayaan niya na ang kanyang katawan ay mailatag sa malamig na sahig. Pagkatapos ng ilang sandaling pagkadilat at pagtingin sa kawalan, nakatulog na ito na nakatitig sa kawalan.

Apat na taon ang lumipas ng muling magising mula sa pagkatulog ang lalaki. Madaming nangyari sa kanyang isipan. Apat na taong siyang nananiginip. Panaginip tungkol sa mga kaibigan, tungkol sa kanyang minahal, tungkol sa isang mataas na gusali na puno ng mga taong magkakapareho ang suot. Ang panaginip niya ay naging masaya, nakarating sya sa iba't-ibang lugar kasama ang iba't-ibang tao.

Pagkagising ng lalaki ay nagulat siya. Sapagkat ang kanyang nilalakarang lagusan na walang lagusan ay nagkaroon na ng bagong mga labasan. Apat na pinto ang kanyang nakita sa dulo ng lagusan. Apat na magkakaiba ng kulay at magkakaiba ng anyo. Ibinaling niya muna ang kanyang antensyon sa papel na hawak niya sa kanyang kaliwang kamay. Ito ay isang puting papel .. nakasulat ang malaking letra ng DIPLOMA.

Pagkatapos ng maikling oras na pagsisiyasat sa papel .. muli niyang tinignan ang mga pinto sa dulo ng lagusan. Nilapitan niya ang isang pinto. Kulay itim ang pinto. Lumapit muli siya. Iba pala ang kulay ng pinto, "gray" pala. Ang pinto ay luma na at hindi na kagandahan, ngunit ang hawakan nito ay nababalot ng liwanag kaya hindi gaanong napapansin ang kalumaan ng pinto.

Pumunta siya sa ikalawang pinto. Dilaw ang kulay nito. Dilaw na may itim na mahahabang guhit bilang disenyo sa pinta. May nakapinta ring tigre sa gitna at mukhang bago ang pinto. Maganda ang pagkakagawa sa pinto ngunit halata na tinakpan lang ng bagong pagpipinta ang lumang pinto. Hindi siya natuwa roon kaya pumunta siya sa ikatlo.

Ang ikatlong pinto ay kulay berde. Berde na may puting kahalo bilang palamuti sa pinto. Isang lalaking may hawak ng pana ang nakadisenyo sa pinto. Kakaiba ang ikatlong pinto na nakita ng lalaki sapagkat makabago at gawa sa bakal ito. Walang hawakan dahil may nakalagay na laser sensor sa gitna. Papasok na sana siya sa pintong ito ngunit nakita niya ang huling pinto.

Ang huling pinto ay simple. Kulay "maroon" ito, luma, gawa sa kahoy, ngunit may nakalagay na salita bilang disenyo. Ang kinabukasan ay nasa pintong ito.

Saan kaya dapat pumasok?

This article reflects my life on MaSci. I am like a man walking on an endless tunnel but still hoping that the tunnel will end. I am very fortunate that i already reached the end of the tunnel. I am now an alumnus of Manila Science High School. I just thought MaSci will just be a dream. But still, my life is not yet complete. I still have to walk on another tunnel.
