Disruptive Interruptions

If this crisis would be a lesson, it is that the global financial crisis is not just an isolated crisis of neoliberalism. IT is a crisis of the entire capitalist system that has long been failing. This analysis clearly separates us from those who see this crisis as a simple result of corruption, greediness and the lack of state regulation (anti-neoliberalism) instead of seeing the crisis as endemic and systemic. IT IS THE CAPITALIST SYSTEM's fault, not neoliberalism, not Keynesianism.

While it is clear that neoliberalism is a grave evil that should be eliminated, we should not forget that this is not the main problem. It is just in fact, just as Keynesianism had been in the past, is merely a short-term and patch response of its advocates to a historically specific crisis of itself --- a crisis that is definitely caused by the unsustainable internal contradictions of the capitalist system.

KABATAAN Partylist

We can't go in circles forever. The system of crisis then response then crisis is just too tiring for the people. At this point, yes, regulation may be necessary, but it is not long-term. We must call for a genuine change of system, from capitalism that is just concerned with the profits to a system that cares for the welfare of all and is governed by democratic principles. This what makes us different from other elitist and capitalist governments that puts forward solutions that are short-term, unsustainable and illogical.

*for a friend who sees state regulation as already enough. Back to work now. See you after this toxic month! :D

That Cool Reading Glasses

No Gravatar

I used to fake illness when I was a kid. Or maybe even today. When I'm too lazy to go to school or too tired to play with my cousins, I used to fake headaches or even fever. It's fun when grown-ups believe you or they don't believe you but they let you be that lazy boy for that day. I want to fake that I have an eye illness because I wanna wear that cool eyeglasses.

Harry's

It was my dream to wear eyeglasses or even reading glasses. Aside from the fact that Harry Potter wears one, you look really smart and geeky (can be nerdy too) when you're wearing one. And being smart or geeky is cool for me. Before my first day of college in UP Manila, my mom and I went to an Eye center to have my, obviously, eyes checked. They told me that I have a Presbyopia. What the hell is that P thing? Presbyopia is the inability for the eye to focus on nearby objects, affecting tasks such as reading, sewing, and writing (and using computer). Presbyopia occurs naturally and typically affects people when they reach middle age. I'm just fifteen by that time.

So it was the realization of my dream. But I realized that wearing an eyeglass is not fun, it's actually irritating and i'm always bothered. I started not wearing it just because i don't feel cool or smart when I'm wearing it. I'm still having hard times sometimes when I read but i think it's already gone. Ha for me!

The ophthalmologist told me to undergo a NearVision Conductive Keratoplasty (NearVision CK) procedure which can reduce or eliminate the need for reading glasses for months at a time. I'm afraid of anything that is slow and painful that's why i ignored it. But I discovered that in the US, it can be done in a doctor’s office in about 20 minutes and that recovery can be as little as few hours. And normally (Pray!), it has no pain. What the hell is a NearVision CK? Too scientific for me, read it here.

NearVision CK's No More Reading Glasses

Because I love to read news, articles, magazines and books, I've noticed that Stahl Eye Center which has been established 35 years ago has been gaining popularity on NearVision CK treatment. Plus, USAEyes (I've read this from a magazine somewhere), a nonprofit patient advocacy have verified that the Stahl Eye Center can meet or even exceed procedural norms. If you are university-centric/conscious, their doctors are graduates from top universities such us UCLA (THE UCLA), John Hopkins and Yale. But unfortunately, Stahl Eye Center can only be found in three locations: New York, Manhattan and Long Island. Lucky for the US people and those who can afford.

You can watch this video (Stahl Eye) for more information.

Collecting Prospectus.

No Gravatar

Dictionary. com defines collection as a group of objects or an amount of material accumulated in one location, especially for some purpose or as a result of some same process.

A collection ofently defines a person, you get a quick glance of  who and what the person is, you get a history and a page of future about the person. A collection of toys will mean many things, it can be his love of his childhood, to feel young or one may say that it serves as a distraction to reality. A collection of luxury cars can show how rich or how luxurious one is. A collection of books may define one's intelligence though reading is not really all it is.

What do you think of collecting prospectus from different universities? What is my future and history? What type of personality do I have?

Here it is.

100_2205Local. Very local. :) Can you identify the schools?
